Ways taper has affected me this week:
1. My brain is developing tunnel vision. I think the lack of oxygen from the lack of working out is affecting my mental state. All I can think about is training. Past training, future training, what training I would pick to do today if I could train.
2. I have more energy than a 5 year old. Because I’m not exhausting myself every morning with hours of sweating I have too much energy throughout the day. My dog permanently looks at me like I’m insane. This may be due to me chasing him around the house saying “I’m gonna get you”. My husband is contemplating divorcing me if I sing one more “Good morning, Good morning, Good morning to PJ” song or one more “PJ is so great, and he smells good, most of the time, yada yada yada” songs. I know those are classics and he should feel overjoyed but he is not amused. I also dance through the house making up sweet moves and choreographing routines for Push It and Firework.
3. I’m the hungriest hippo in the entire world. I think this week I’ve eaten more than when I am full on training. I’m just so hungry. I wouldn’t be surprised if I packed on a few pounds this week. I hope it isn’t too much extra to carry come Saturday.
4. Without training I have no where to work out my stress. This has been the most stressful week ever, because of finals, and I have nowhere to channel the frustration!
Today I had my last workout before the race: A short brick, 30 minutes on Carmen (my bike) and 15 minutes running. My legs were actually still a little tight from last weekends torture fest. By the time I hopped off the bike and started running I was all warmed up and good to go. Mental note, Saturday go for a run before the race starts to warm up. I also tried out my race day attire during my workout, to make sure it was functional, comfortable and fast. PJ said it made me look fast. I think he was just trying to get in my pants. I ended up getting these nike double up shorts for the race.

You cant see it from the picture, but they have built in spandex underneath so that I don't flash anyone while I'm riding on the bike. :)
In packing, I did something that I’ve never done before. I fit all of my belongings in ONE CARRY ON BAG!!!!!!!! Amazing, I know! No 75 dollar fee for me thank you very much!!! I think I packed more workout clothes than actual clothes. I wonder how going through security is going to go with my helmet, pedals, and other assortments for the race. Fingers crossed. I also made sure to pack up my 3 Gu Brew electrolyte replacements (Lemon Lime) and 2 Raw Bars. Rule number 6, never go anywhere without food!
Orlando or Bust
Made it through security with all race essentials! Lets do this!!!
