Another beautiful spring day. Thank goodness! I don't know if I could handle another snowfall.
This spring I've decided to tackle a few home goals. Things that I think about from time to time, but never actually get around to.
1. Print out and organize our pictures
We have a lot of pictures. A lot! After nine years together, we have accumulated quite the collection.
What's that? You've never seen any pictures around our house? Well, that's because they are all on my computer and the back up drive.
A few nights ago I put in a huge order to snapfish, to print out all of the beautiful memories that have been living in darkness for years and years.
I also purchased this bundle of Project Life goodies from Joann Fabric this weekend, to organize our pictures and memories into a creative book (Thank you very much 50% off Joann coupon!!!).
I'm psyched to get started! I think it's going to look really great!
2. Meal planning
I really enjoy cooking and I don't even mind grocery shopping very much. Aria and I usually have a blast. So much of a blast that we spend way too much money and end up wasting a lot of food. Or we buy duplicates of things over and over again and they end up taking over our pantry.
Each week I noticed that we were throwing away a lot more food than we should be. Fruit and produce would go bad before we had a chance to use it. Our pantry was overrun with so much stuff and our freezer was filled to the brim. We continued to buy food but didn't use even close to all of it.
Two weeks ago I started meal planning and buying only what was on the list. We have already seen a huge improvement in the amount that I spend at the store and we are using everything we buy. Weekly we are saving at least $60 on groceries and we aren't throwing away any food!
I'm looking forward to seeing how much better this gets.
3. Declutter the basement
I LOVE to get rid of things. Love it!!! I dont' know why, but I get this crazy satisfaction out of boxing up our stuff and sending it off.
The past year I have really been slacking at keeping our clutter under control. I'm not sure how we acquire so much stuff, but boy do we. This spring it is my mission to go through everything in our basement, and box 90% of it up and ship it on out! We moved into this house 4 years ago and haven't touched one thing that is in our basement. In my book that classifies it as, not essential.
We also have this bad habit of putting things in the basement, that we aren't sure what to do with. We probably don't need many of those things either.
I'm really excited to see how these goals pan out!
Wish me luck!
